We have several openings for worker shares, intern/apprenticeships, volunteer workers, and paid positions.
CSA Worker Shares: We have a limited number of openings for CSA members who would like to trade their labor for their weekly CSA share; work requirement is 4 - 5 hours per week, depending upon which share size you are receiving. Typical work duties may include working in the gardens, or helping with harvesting, washing and packing the boxes, or any one of many other jobs that need to be done around the farm. For instance, one of our CSA members helps us with repairing our machinery, another will be helping us at our Farmer's Market stand.
Intern/Apprenticeships: A multifaceted working farm like HighCross Farm is an ideal setting for a motivated young person to gain skills in a wide variety of areas. We have learning tracks available in the following areas: Agronomy and Horticulture; Building Construction; Animal Husbandry; Wool Processing; Forestry and Woodworking; Machinery Maintenance and Repair. We can custom design a learning program which can include all or some of the above areas.
Volunteer Workers: There is always a wide variety of different types of work needing to be done every day on a multifaceted farm like this. Hard work, most of it outdoors, builds healthy bodies, healthy minds, and a solid work ethic. Come spend a day or part of a day working on the farm, and go home feeling great satisfaction.
