Protocol for Picking-up Your FreedomShare

Please review these important instructions regarding picking up your Share, especially for first-time CSA members:

1) Be very careful to pick up only the box (or boxes) with your name on the attached label.

If your box is not at the site, a mistake has been made.  Please do not take any other box, because that is someone else's box and will only complicate things for another member.  If your box is not there, please call the number listed on the check-off sheet, or email us, or contact the site host.  We will see to it that you do get your proper order.

Please note that EVERY box is a custom-ordered box. EVERY box will have a recipient label affixed. Some members may have more than one box.

2) There is a check-off sheet at each site, listing the names of the CSA members who are receiving an order that week. Please check off your name each time.  If your name is not on the list, please do not take a box; instead call the number listed or send us an email.

See if the site host is home or can assist you.  We will figure out what happened and see to it that you do get your proper order.

3) Please take good care of your box and return it the following week to the spot designated by your pick-up site host, and knock it down, being careful to not tear the flaps, so that it can be reused; the instructions are on the website under CSA FAQ at the CSA webpage, copied here:

"What about the waxed box into which the produce is packed?

These waxed boxes work great with the produce, which at times can be wet—the boxes don't become soggy or fall apart. But they CANNOT be recycled like ordinary cardboard boxes, because of the wax coating.  However, they CAN be used over and over as long as they are taken care of by the CSA members and returned each week to the pick-up site.

Important note for CSA Members:  There is a proper versus improper way of opening the box.  Note that the top flap which is tucked in has a crease in it; simply use both hands to gently squeeze this flap so that it pops up along the crease and eases out of the flaps into which it is tucked, rather than pulling up at the center of the flap—that way none of the flaps will be torn.

In addition, the whole box can be collapsed, for ease in transport and so that it will take up less space at the home of your pick-up site host. Simply turn the box upside down, and in a manner similar to opening the top flap, gently squeeze each bottom flap so that it pops up along the crease and eases out of the flaps into which it is tucked.  Once you have learned how to do it correctly, it is quick and easy to open and collapse the box. But if any of the flaps are torn, the box will not hold together and will likely have to be discarded—expensive and wasteful.

Please carefully instruct those in your household and anyone picking up your box how to open and knock down the box."

4) Log-in to your CSA online account to review any specific instructions listed at the "Pick-up directions" tab; there is also a map and the contact info for your pick-up site host.

5) Please be respectful of the property and privacy of your pick-up site host. Note that it is your responsibility to retrieve your box in the time frame specified, unless you have made other arrangements with your pick-up site host. Each host will dispose of any unclaimed boxes after a certain period of time, usually specified in the Pick-up directions.

6) The delivery arrival time is a target only! Deliveries may occasionally fall behind schedule, due to traffic or other reasons. We will try to alert you via email if deliveries will be significantly delayed.

7) Watch for notification of the weekly CSA newsletter.

8) If you have questions or comments, email gets our fastest response time, as we are checking our email frequently throughout the day, whereas telephone messages are not checked as often.

Feel free to write if you have any further questions.

The FreedomShare Web Store

The Web Store is a service exclusively for our FreedomShare CSA member subscribers.

1) The Web Store opens Friday at noon and closes Monday at noon. Your order will be delivered the following Thursday late afternoon to early evening.

2) You may access the Web Store by clicking this link:  http://csa.farmigo.com/store/highcrossfarm

The Web Store page may take a while to fully load when using certain browsers.

The system may recognize your computer, or will prompt you to login using your HighCross Farm CSA account email and password.

3) Payment for your web store order is made automatically through electronic check, credit or debit card, or PayPal.  Note that your payment will not be processed until the end of the day on Thursday, at which time an email confirmation of your payment will be sent.

Orders must be entered by Monday noon to be included in the Thursday delivery for that week.

Sometimes we add additional items as they become available throughout the weekend.

Details and producer information are listed for each item.

When an item becomes out of stock, it disappears from the Web Store page.

The Web Store may limit the quantity per member of some items in short supply for the week.

You may log in to the Web Store any time it is open to delete or add items to your order. If you modify your order, you will receive an updated confirmation email.

We will be adding additional types of produce as the season progresses. Watch the weekly newsletter for notice of new items available on the Web Store.

4) Every box at your pick-up site will have a label attached with the name of the CSA member, and  the member’s name will be listed on the check-off sheet.

If there is enough interest, we may eventually initiate a weekly egg share option, for CSA members who want eggs delivered on a regular basis.  For now, eggs and all other items are available on a first come, first served basis.
